it reminds me of my grandma´s wallpaper
For my final BA show, I created a local recycling handmade wallpaper installation-process in Helsinki. The installation was shown at Tasku Gallery Helsinki and the Uomilla exhibition Helsinki, and handmade paper pieces at the Parikkala Craft Center and Le Lac Brussels. I continued working with handmade recycled papers, wallpapers and site specific pieces, and publications.
Upcycling Installation 2020-2022
It reminds me of my grandma’s wallpaper is a wallpaper installation changing through time. This ongoing project is questioning time and recycling processes. In this project about wallpaper I am focusing on different plant bodies that can be found in cities such as Helsinki. I study species that are growing in 2020-2021 on human influenced lands, sea and forests. I compiled samples from my walks : owers, leaves, moss, lichens, wood, mushrooms and through the process of papermaking, I am keeping them inside the paper. They become ghosts, traces of what once could be found, fossilised in the paper. The installation existed in two different exhibition space: Tasku Gallery at the University of Fine Arts Helsinki and Galleria Albert IX in Helsinki; and Galleria Albert IX in Helsinki was recycled two times and is still looking for future homes.
Continuing the recycling process of the papers.

sinking islands shown at Tasku Gallery (Helsinki)
Installation
2020-2022
The paintings are inspired from google map images. Those images where taking at latitude and longitude of places that disappeared or are disappearing because of global warming. Especialy islands which are sinking because of the water level rising. To make the paint, I am using soil from the forest, sand, sediments and clay.
What seems stable, eternal and strong such as soil and stones can be completely covered by the sea. The painting, at the same time as the island is changing, cracking, breaking.
In the series, the paintings are in between the stage disappearing and being present.
